Jaws

Release Year: 1975

Directed By: Steven Spielberg

Starring: Roy Schneider, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss, Lorraine Gary

Everyone knows the Jaws theme song and the suspense it builds. The insatiable great white shark may be terrifying for the citizens of Amity Island, but it’s not too scary for viewers sitting safely at home!

All four movies in the Jaws franchise are currently available to stream on Netflix: Jaws, Jaws 2, Jaws 3, and Jaws: The Revenge. The first movie from 1975 tells the famous story of an oceanographer, a police sheriff, and a shark hunter on a mission to kill a man-eating great white shark.

This thriller definitely gave the audience a scare in theaters, but sharks aren’t nearly as frightening on a phone, laptop, or TV than on the big screen.

Sheriff Martin Brody is played by Roy Schneider, who is the first to discover the remains of a shark attack victim. The film also stars Richard Dreyfuss as Matt Hooper, an expert on marine biology, and Robert Shaw as Quint, a local fisherman with shark-hunting experience.

Although it’s not considered a Halloween film, Jaws can definitely be on your not scary Halloween movies list as a classic horror film. Ironically enough, October 31st will be the last day you can watch the Jaws collection on Netflix.
