10 best not scary Halloween movies on Netflix
Raw
Release Year: 2017
Directed By: Julia Ducournau
Starring: Garance Marillier, Ella Rumpf, Rabah Nait Oufella
This one may not be scary, but it’s pretty gross and definitely for adults only. Raw is a rated R psychological horror film from France about a veterinary college student who develops a hunger for raw flesh.
The writer and director, Julia Ducournau, just released another film Titane on Oct. 13, which won Best International Feature in the Cannes Film Festival.
Raw is rated R by MPAA for “aberrant behavior, bloody and grisly images, strong sexuality, nudity, language and drug use.”
There were definitely moments that I looked away from the screen due to grossness, but it wasn’t because the movie was scary.
Justine, raised in a religiously vegetarian family, joins her sister Alexia studying at a veterinary school in this French film. Hazing is a way of life at this university, and Justine is forced to eat raw meat for the first time for an initiation test. Soon after she develops an animalistic craving for more. Will Justine be able to overcome this extreme urge, or will it develop into an even more horrific desire?
Blood? Yes. Creepy? Yes. Scary? No.
