PG Halloween movies on Netflix: The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008)

Fantasy abounds in The Spiderwick Chronicles and adults and children alike might recognize Freddie Highmore in the roles of Jared and Sam. Highmore currently stars on The Good Doctor but he also played Charlie in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Instead of a golden ticket that brings him to a magical chocolate factory, Jared finds a book in his family’s new home. He’s known as an instigator of trouble, so neither his mom, his sister Mallory, nor his twin Sam believe him when he says he’s not the one responsible for the strange things that are occurring on the property.

However, Jared is telling the truth. The book he’s found is a field guide to the fantastic creatures that roam their house and the surrounding grounds. They want the book and they’ll do what they need to, including disrupting the home, in order to get it.

PG Halloween movies on Netflix: Monster House (2006)

Trick-or-treating is one of the most fun activities one can do on Halloween because it means a bag, bucket, or pillow case full of candy and chocolate. But in Monster House, children could get swallowed by a seemingly innocuous house if they’re not careful.

DJ, Chowder, and Jenny try to warn the people in their neighborhood, but they’re kids and the adults think they’re imagining things. They’re not, of course, because if there’s one thing adult characters in a children’s horror movie should be doing, it’s believing kids when they tell them that there’s something not quite right about a person, place, or thing.

The trio, however, are undeterred. They’re going to do what it takes to destroy the house before Halloween comes and it eats any child who dares to walk up to its doorbell.
