Best Netflix movies: Roma

Release Year: 2018

Directed by Alfonso Cuaron

Starring Yalitza Aparicio, Marina de Tavira, Jorge Antonio Guerrero and more

While some people might pick a classic for the top movie on Netflix, we picked Roma as the best movie on Netflix because, well, it is! You have to watch this movie as soon as you can.

Directed by the great Alfonso Cuaron, Roma premiered on Netflix in December 2018, but it was released in theaters around the world a few weeks before the Netflix release date. The film tells the story of a family living in Mexico City in the 1970s. It’s an incredible story, and it features incredible performances.

Roma was nominated for 10 Oscars, including noms for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress (Aparicio), Best Supporting Actress (de Tavira) and more. It is going to be the first Netflix original feature film to win an Oscar. I have a feeling the movie will be walking away from the award show with at least a few Oscars, including Best Cinematography and Best Director.
