The Irishman premiered on Netflix on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019, after a theatrical run in many independent theaters around the country. The Netflix original film is directed by Martin Scorsese, and it’s one of two Netflix movies with a realistic chance at winning the Oscar for Best Picture this year.

The film is based on the book I Heard You Paint House by Charles Brandt. It tells the story of Frank Sheeran (De Niro) who was a hitman for the Bufalino crime family. He also had ties to Jimmy Hoffa. In the film, Hoffa is played by Al Pacino!

The film spans several decades and they used de-aging technology to allow De Niro, Pacino and Pesci to play these characters in their younger days.
