The Guilty was one of the most highly anticipated Netflix movies of the fall of 2021, and for the most part, the movie did not disappoint. With that cast, how could it?
The Guilty is one of the most unique movies of 2021. The movie takes place, basically, in one central location and follows one character, Joe Baylor (Jake Gyllenhaal), an LAPD officer on 911 operator duty after something happened on the job. When a woman calls in and says she’s been kidnapped, Baylor becomes obsessed with the case does everything he can to help the woman and her family.
Other than a few of the other 911 operators, Gyllenhaal’s character is the only one we see on-screen. The rest of the characters call and are called by Joe during the movie.
The Netflix movie was filmed during the pandemic over 11 days, according to Backstage. And, Antoine Fuqua directed the Netflix movie from a van out of precaution after he was around someone who was COVID-19 positive, according to Screen Rant.
