You season 3 introduces a whole bunch of new characters who have become involved with the Quinn-Goldbergs and all the baggage they bring with them. One of those characters who crosses paths early and often with Joe and Love is Matthew, played by Scott Speedman.

Matthew is Joe and Love’s neighbor and the husband of Natalie, played by Michaela McManus, who Joe took an interest in all the way back in the You season 2 finale. Matthew is also the father of Theo, played by Dylan Arnold, who is another central character in this whole story.

Does Joe kill Matthew in You season 3?

As mentioned, Joe becomes obsessed with Natalie in You season 3, and we know that’s usually not good news for the lovers of Joe’s victims, We all remember what happened to Benji in You season 1, right?

Well, before Joe and Natalie can really become something, Love kills Natalie with an ax, which sets the Quinn-Goldbergs up on a collision course with Matthew, who doesn’t believe that Natalie was killed by Gil before Gil died by suicide.

Honestly, I thought Matthew was a goner. Matthew starts looking into every single suspect in Madre Linda, and clearly, Joe and Love are on the list. In another life, Joe, when he found out about Matthew looking into them, might have just killed Matthew in some horrible plan gone wrong.

But, Joe is trying to be better. He doesn’t want that life anymore, so he lets Matthew continue the search. Eventually, Matthew finds out what is up, although he doesn’t have proof.

So, no, Joe doesn’t kill Matthew, and Matthew lives through season 3. To show how much the tables have turned, it’s Matthew who could have actually killed Joe. Matthew finds Joe paralyzed in the kitchen after Love poisons him.

Instead of killing Joe, Matthew finds out where Theo is and then leaves Joe to be killed by Love. We all know how that turned out.

In the final scene, we see Matthew and Theo leaving the hospital, and they look happy. Hopefully, it stays that way in You season 4.
