Netflix might have a reputation for cancelling shows prematurely or making fans wait too long for renewals, but the streaming powerhouse has been getting much better handing out early renewals to some of its biggest series in recent months. From Bridgerton and The Witcher, Netflix has been getting more generous with its renewals and the latest to join this elite group of shows to receive a swift renewal is the streamer’s suspenseful thriller You

Two days before the debut of You season 3, Netflix confirmed You season 4 has been ordered and is already in development at Netflix.

Although details are scarce, the renewal was welcomed news for fans of the hit series and is sure to make season 3 that much more enjoyable in knowing it won’t be the show’s final season.

Will You season 4 be the final season of You?

Now that we know season 4 is in the works, of course, the big question is whether season 4 will be the show’s swan song. While it is possible Netflix could decide to make season 4 the show’s last, the social media posting announcing the renewal did not bill season 4 as the show’s last season which seems to be a positive sign for the show’s longevity on Netflix.

In fact, we’d go as far as to say the season 4 renewal seems to be a major hint that season 5 is very much on the table.

Is You season 5 happening?

Although Netflix has not yet announced You season 5, all signs seem to be pointing towards a fifth season happening at some point in the future.

Traditionally, when Netflix has renewed a show for a final season, they lean heavily into the news by promoting the show’s farewell season from the beginning. Considering that they’re not billing You season 4 as the show’s final season, it’s looking likely that we’ll see You continue beyond season 4 which is exciting for fans of the show.

Of course, we’ll have to wait to see what exactly the future holds for Joe Goldberg and You, but it’s a positive sign that Netflix is not promoting season 4 as the show’s last season.

You is streaming now on Netflix.
