Although Dopesick is a limited series that was released in 2021, the show began trending again in 2023 thanks to Netflix's release of its own miniseries on the opioid crisis, Painkiller. It's now 2024, and people are still talking about this show. It's just that good!

Dopesick quickly caught the attention of audiences and critics everywhere when it premiered back in October 2021. The show earned a critic approval rate of 89% and an audience score of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. This doesn't come as a surprise, though, since it discusses a topic central to American history: the opioid crisis.

With all this acclaim and with such an important topic, you’re probably wondering where you can watch every episode of the 2021 series. Well, we're here to tell you that it's not on Netflix. While the streamer is home to many similar titles about the opioid crisis and the struggles of addiction, as of today, this 2021 miniseries is not among them, and it'll likely never be, seeing as though the show is currently being housed solely on a separate streaming platform. Even still, we’ll be sure to let you know if or when this ever changes. But for now, you'll have to make your way over to Hulu because that's where Dopesick is available to stream.

However, you'll need to be subscribed to Hulu in order to be granted access to the eight-episode series on the platform. There are multiple subscription plans to choose from, and any one of them will give you access. It's up to you.

Here's what some critics had to say about the limited series via Rotten Tomatoes:

"While Dopesick sometimes lacks structural coherence and propulsive momentum, it generally makes up for those shortcomings with strong performances and a tangible sense of just how many corners of American life opioids touched."

Joshua A. from Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

"If you're craving a fun, lighthearted binge, this deep, layered look into America's opioid crisis certainly isn't it. While Dopesick isn't an easy watch, though, it's a wholly engrossing one you'll be compelled to stick with from start to finish."

Matt Cabral from Common Sense Media

Golden Globe Award-winning actor Michael Keaton stars in the leading role of Dr. Samuel Finnix. Peter Sarsgaard, Michael Stuhlbarg, Will Poulter, John Hoogenakker, Kaitlyn Dever, Rosario Dawson, and many other talented actors also join him in the cast.

The drama series went on to receive 14 Emmy nominations, with Keaton winning the Emmy forOutstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. The show also won the Emmy for Outstanding Cinematography for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards. What an impressive feat!

If for some reason you're unable to watch Dopesick on Hulu, you could always check out similar content that's currently streaming on Netflix. We recommend checking out Painkiller, Heroin(E)Dope, The Business of DrugsCocaine Cowboys: The Kings of Miami, The Pharmacist or Take Your Pills. All of these titles are Netflix originals, so you don't have to worry about them leaving the streaming platform.
