The Netflix original series The Crown premiered on the streaming service on November 4, 2016. The Crown tells the story of Queen Elizabeth II, played by Claire Foy, beginning before her coronation.

The series was originally going to span six seasons, but Peter Morgan, the creator of the series, was not sure how long the series would last. We know the series will last at least four seasons. Netflix has officially renewed the series through season 4. After the second season, Olivia Colman will step in for Claire Foy and play Queen Elizabeth II.

The Crown is easily one of the best Netflix originals of the year. Claire Foy won the Golden Globe for her role in the series.

The Crown season 4 is now on Netflix. There are two more seasons of the series in the works! Season 5 is coming to Netflix in 2022. Imelda Staunton will take over as Queen Elizabeth for the final two seasons.
