Bride of Chucky

The Child’s Play movie franchise might be divisive, but horror fans cannot deny how fun Bride of Chucky from 1998 is. Instead of keeping with the horror genre, this installment switched things up and brought a more humorous side to the story. The movie is almost a parody of itself, and is filled with ridiculous dialogue and scenes to keep anyone laughing.

Both Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky (2004) are available on Netflix UK, and I personally can’t help but watch at least one of the movies in the franchise every Halloween season.

Candyman

The new sequel starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Teyonah Parris just premiered in theaters in August, but there’s nothing quite like the original Candyman. The 1992 movie is incredibly influential in the world of horror, and actor Tony Todd is still best known for the titular role.

In terms of Halloween classics, Candyman is certainly up there, and the original is currently streaming on Netflix UK.

The Fear Street trilogy

And finally, the last entry on this list is a trilogy! The Fear Street movies, based on the book series of the same name by R.L. Stine, debuted on Netflix internationally this summer and were instant hits. The films follow the fictional town of Shadyside, Ohio from three different timelines, seeing the characters as younger and older versions.

Although these movies are based on a children’s book series, they are not for kids. Each installment has an R-rating, and so we’d recommend these for anyone who grew up with R.L. Stine back in the day, not children just discovering his works now.

All three Fear Street movies —1994, 1978, and 1666 — are streaming on Netflix UK.
