Best Halloween movies on Netflix UK in 2021

And on the flip side, if you want nothing but horror-comedies this fall, Netflix UK has a few great options for you! Scary Movie (2000) and its two sequels, Scary Movie 2 (2001) and Scary Movie 3 (2003), are all available to stream. This series pokes fun at horror movies that were popular at the time, including Scream, The Grudge, The Ring, and so many more.

The first installment is the best, but the other two are definitely fun watches as well. The first two are rated R and the third is PG-13, so we wouldn’t recommend watching them with youngsters around, but if your friends are too scared to watch horror movies this Halloween, the Scary Movie series is a good alternative.

Hereditary

Netflix UK has so many great options for horror movies! I was particularly surprised (and jealous!) to see Hereditary on the list, as this movie is one of the all-time horror greats of the 2010s. Written and directed by Ari Aster, this 2018 horror flick doesn’t shy away from disturbing imagery and emotional scenes.

Toni Collette stars as Annie Graham, and she was absolutely robbed of an Academy Award nomination for her performance!

Critically speaking, Hereditary is the best horror movie available to stream on Netflix UK. It is rather creepy, however, so it might not be for everyone this Halloween.

Nightbooks

The newest entry on this list is Nightbooks, which is fit for the whole family to watch. The 2021 Netflix Original is based on the children’s book of the same name written by J. A. White, and stars Krysten Ritter.

The film is rated TV-PG, so you can rest assured that it is family-friendly, while still bringing spooky vibes and the magic of witchcraft. If the kids in your house are looking for something supernatural and fit for Halloween, this might just be the perfect choice!
