Is Detective Hwang Jun-ho still alive in Squid Game?

Many shows love to do the death fakeout routine with a beloved character to keep fans guessing as the story progresses. Squid Game did this with player number one, which also had some next-level reveals and shocking revelations along with it.

But there was one death that may have seemed like it wasn’t meant to kill the intended victim. Viewers watched as Detective Hwang Jun-ho infiltrated the island, uncovered the conspiracy and was forced to confront his brother, whom he was looking for, who is a former winner of the competition and now its Front Man.

What’s interesting about this particular death scene is usually, when someone is executed, a headshot or two rounds in the chest are the preferred methods used. But the detective was shot in the shoulder and fell to his alleged death.

But it could very well be that his brother gave him a chance to survive and escape with his life by merely wounding his shoulder. It would be unfortunate if the detective doesn’t return in Squid Game season 2 as he would be an ideal ally for Seong Gi-hun, who will be looking to take down the games, which was heavily indicated when he doesn’t get on the plane to America to see his daughter.
