There are some great horror shows on Netflix for Halloween 2021. You want something scary to watch. What about The Haunting of Hill House? Is it scary?

When it comes to horror, Netflix offers plenty to watch. When you want something scary, just click on the “horror” category on the streamer and you’ll find something to watch. Of course, you want to know if the movies and shows really are scary.

The Haunting of Hill House is likely one of the suggestions that’s popped up on your list of shows to watch. Is this Netflix Original something scary?

For me, scares are subjective. What one person finds scary, another person won’t. It really is that simple. However, The Haunting of Hill House offers something that will make almost all viewers feel some sort of fear or nervous anticipation.

The Haunting of Hill House brings the fear on Netflix

One of the things that The Haunting of Hill House brought was the ghosts in the scenes. You’d find yourself watching these silent, stationary figures in the background or off to one side.

With most TV shows, these figures would move. They’d end up being the creatures or ghosts that would attack. But Hill House did something a little different. Instead, you were just waiting for the movement that never came, increasing that nervous anticipation.

Then there were some of the storylines mixed in. The Bent-Neck Lady was certainly a scary figure, especially mixed in with the sleep paralysis and the way she would appear in the dark. Even if you figured out who she was, there were still moments that made you wonder what was going to happen.

One of the great things about The Haunting of Hill House is that the horror isn’t in our faces, but that leads to a bit of extra fear. You just don’t really know what to expect the first time. There are the odd jump scares, but some of the horror is simply in the unknowing. There’s the silence and the darkness that lead to our imaginations running away with us, adding to the fear that is already there.
