After six incredible seasons and cheating death twice, Lucifer has finally come to an end with its sixth and final season streaming now on Netflix.

Within the show’s final season, the writers do a fantastic job of putting the focus on the show’s longtime core characters in an effort to provide fans with closure to many burning storylines. While the focus of the season is on the main ensemble, there are a few notable new faces added to the fold in season 6 including a mysterious new angel by the name of Rory.

Following an ominous introduction at the end of the season 6 premiere, we officially meet Rory in the second episode of the season and from there the writers gradually peel back her layers to reveal more and more with each passing episode.

While it takes a few episodes to learn her exact origin story, one thing that is quickly established upon her introduction is that her arrival will play a key role in Lucifer’s final character arc. However, we have to admit we didn’t quite anticipate how exactly she would factor into the puzzle and what her connection to Lucifer would end up being.

Final spoiler warning!

Lucifer spoilers: Who is Rory?

Rory is the daughter of Chloe Decker and Lucifer Morningstar, who traveled back in time from the future at the beginning of the season to kill seek revenge against Lucifer for abandoning her and Chloe in the future.

Rory’s desire to kill Lucifer in the season’s opening episodes stems from the fact that Lucifer was not in the picture when she was growing up, nor was he there for Chloe which becomes a central plotline for the trio within the final season.

Across the season, we watch as the trio attempt to prevent Lucifer’s disappearance which ultimately gives him the chance to get to know Rory and for her to get to spend time with the dad she never had growing up.

In the end, Rory comes to the realization that the reason Lucifer was not around for her growing up was the result of him keeping his promise to Rory to fulfill his destiny as Hell’s healer.

You see, if Lucifer split his time between Hell and Earth in order to be present in Rory’s life, she would have never traveled back through time to confront him and set in motion the events that led him to become Hell’s healer instead of its keeper. After making this connection, Rory made Lucifer vow not to change anything thus explaining his absence from Rory and Chloe’s life in the future timeline.
