There are some excellent releases on Netflix throughout September. Narrow down your movies on Netflix to watch with this list.

With so much arriving on Netflix throughout September, it’s going to be difficult to pick what to watch. There are some excellent Netflix shows arriving, including Lucifer‘s final season, the first half of Money Heist‘s final season, the new series Midnight Mass, and so much more.

This isn’t about the shows, though. There are some great movies on Netflix that you won’t want to miss out on. Some of these are perfect for horror fans, while others are great if you have kids in the house.

The list is in release date order to avoid favoritism. I find seeing things in release date order can also help to manage your calendar, especially since September also brings all the fall shows back on broadcast!

5 must-watch movies on Netflix in September 2021

Worth

We start with the release of a biopic. Worth follows a lawyer in Washington D.C. who has one mission on his mind: to get justice for the families of the 9/11 victims.

This is a story about how Kenneth Feinberg battled against politics and cynicism to make sure the people got what they deserved. No, it wouldn’t bring family members back, but it would help move on just a little knowing that people were in their corner.

Worth is on Netflix on Friday, Sept. 3.

Blood Brothers: Malcolm X & Muhammad Ali

Malcolm X and Muhammad Ali was extremely important figures during the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s. If you haven’t watched One Night In Miami on Amazon Prime Video yet, now is the time to do so. Then on Netflix, you can turn to Blood Brothers: Malcolm X & Muhammad Ali.

It uses rare archive footage to show the two important figures. What did they do for the movement? How do their roles still live within the movement today?

Watch the documentary on Thursday, Sept. 9.

Kate

For those who love action thrillers, the next of the movies on Netflix list is for you. Kate follows an assassin who is poisoned and has just 24 hours left to live. She’s going to make the mostof those 24 hours.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead plays the titular character. Kate will do whatever it takes to get revenge on her enemies. Then when the daughter of one of her past victims shows up, she’ll need to process her feelings on that.

Watch the movie on Friday, Sept. 10.

Nightbooks

Fantasy horror fans will want to check out Nightbooks when it comes to Netflix, and not just for the great cast. It’s a great story that is sure to make you think of the likes of Are You Afraid of the Dark and Creepshow.

The movie follows Alex, a young boy who loves scary stories. Will he still love them when he finds himself trapped inside one? That’s something to find out.

Watch Nightbooks on Friday, Sept. 15.

My Little Pony: A New Generation

Finally, it’s one of the movies on Netflix for children, and there are a few coming throughout the month. My Little Pony: A New Generation welcomes in exactly as it says: a new generation of ponies.

Sunny and Izzy head out on a new adventure when friendship is replaced by fear in Equestria. They need to do whatever they can to restore harmony, and that takes them to faraway lands where they get the chance to make new friends. What doors will all this open for the rest of the My Little Pony franchise?

Watch the new movie with your children on Friday, Sept. 24.
