The newest addition to Netflix’s innovative docuseries, Untold, will be Untold: Caitlyn Jenner, which will be released on Netflix on Aug. 24, 2021.

The first volume of the Untold investigative sports documentary anthology has not disappointed! There are five episodes in total. So far, the stories released are Untold: Malice at the Palace (about the Indiana Pacers incident in 2004) and Untold: Deal with the Devil (about Christy Martin’s boxing career and life story).

This time around, we’re hearing about the career and transitional journey of an athlete turned media personality Caitlyn Jenner. She’s best known in sports history for winning gold in the Olympic decathlon.

Untold: Caitlyn Jenner synopsis

Well, it’s about Caitlyn Jenner! Born in 1949, she’s had an extensive athletic background that led her to compete in decathlons. Her record as a decathlete culminated in winning the men’s event at the 1976 Olympics.

She also is famous for being married to Kris Jenner, the parent of the the Kardashian sisters.

Jenner became even more famous in the public eye after coming out as a trans woman in 2015. She’s been incredibly forward about her story and transition, leading to the documentary series I Am Cait.

The episode will focus on the emotional journey of discovering her trans identity, from childhood to adulthood, in her personal and professional life.

Even though she is trans and considers herself an activist for transgender rights, her views do not always align with the majority of the LGBTQ+ community. It’s a reminder that one person can’t speak for an entire group of people. As a trans individual, I look forward to hearing her perspective to understand where she’s coming from and why.

This is Netflix’s synopsis for the episode:

"Caitlyn Jenner’s unlikely path to Olympic glory was inspirational. But her more challenging road to embracing her true self proved even more meaningful."

“I was an Olympic champion, greatest athlete in the world. But I was still the same old person, with the same old issues,” Jenner says in the trailer.

There has been hours upon hours of documentary footage featuring Jenner’s life and transition. We’ll see what this new episode brings to the table in terms of insight and understanding.
