Sweet Girl followed a man on a mission for answers and revenge while protecting his daughter. Did he get it by the end of the movie?

When Sweet Girl opens, we see Ray at the top of a building with the FBI agent chasing him behind. Ray jumps into the water, and that’s when we get a flashback of what led up to this.

We get the story of the man who loses his wife to cancer. A drug that could have saved her life is taken off the market and she dies because of that. He wants revenge for what happened, and it’s only when an investigative journalist gets in touch that he has the chance to get that.

However, the investigative journalist is stabbed on the train where they meet. A fight breaks out, with Ray and Rachel both injured but alive. At least, that’s the way it seems.

Throughout the movie, we watch Ray get his revenge. We watch the two of them head off on the run, and not just from the FBI now after them. There are people who want them dead and Ray needs to figure out why while Rachel is in contact with a female FBI agent. Eventually, it all leads to Ray rushing to the top of the building we saw him on at the start of the movie.

It wasn’t Ray in Sweet Girl

At the top of the building, the female FBI agent tells Ray that they’ve been in contact. This agent knows all about the stuffed bunny Paloma, a bunny that Rachel’s mom gave her at the hospital. That’s when we learn that Ray isn’t Ray.

This is Rachel at the top of the building. She’s been in a dissassociative state on a mission to get her own revenge. It turns out that Ray didn’t survive the train. He was stabbed and he died on the platform. There were a few hints here and there throughout the movie, but nothing too obvious. It made for an interesting twist.

The jump off the building wasn’t the end, though. Rachel continued her mission for revenge, turning to a politician’s campaign trail as a way to get that.

It doesn’t really matter who she’s after right away. The hitman who killed her father is now after her. They get into a fight, leading to this hitman almost drowning her. However, Ray’s voice tells her to get up and she gets that last chance, taking over the attacker who’s bigger than her and stabbing him to death.

With his death, she then threatens the politician. Rachel had believed this politician would be able to save her mom, but that didn’t happen. The politician is also the one who hired the hitman, leading to the death of Ray.

Rachel has the chance to take the politician’s life, but she doesn’t take it. She doesn’t really need to. She managed to get the politician confessing to it all on record. Rachel gets the recording to the FBI and manages to get fake documents to board a plane and fly away from danger. It’s time for her to start a new life.
