The movie that started it all, Twilight premiered in theaters on November 21, 2008. Based on the book of the same name by Stephenie Meyer, the first movie in the series introduces us to Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), and Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner), who would go on to serve as one of the most popular fictional love triangles of all time.

Twilight follows the story of Bella as she moves to a new town to live with her father. She quickly befriends the popular crowd at school, however she’s drawn to a mysterious man named Edward who she discovers is a vampire. The two fall in love very fast, and she’s faced with new challenges and danger as she meets Edward’s family and other vampires.

The Twilight movies do start to go off the rails a bit as the movie series goes on, but the first installment is honestly really good. It’s become a modern classic for pop culture, and has been memed probably a million times or more.
