Netflix romance movies: No Strings Attached

Release Year: 2011

Directed by Ivan Reitman

Starring Natalie Portman, Ashton Kutcher, Greta Gerwig, Lake Bell, Olivia Thirlby, Mindy Kaling

Let’s face it; No Strings Attached is the perfect example of a romantic comedy through and through. The film stars two major celebs in Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher, who play friends wanting to hook up without the commitment of a relationship.

As you would imagine, this doesn’t go as planned as the two start forming romantic feelings for one another, which is pretty much expected in a situation like this. The two try to fight off their connection and try to keep things no strings attached, but it doesn’t take long before that blows up in their face.

No Strings Attached premiered in theaters on January 11, 2011, and people might remember that another movie super similar to this one came out in the same year. Friends With Benefits was released a few months later in July 2011, starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis as the leads. While the movies are a bit different, they have the same premise, making it hard not to compare the two.

Though No Strings Attached is currently on Netflix, Friends With Benefits is not.
