Murder Mystery premiered on Netflix in June 2019, and it was one of the biggest Netflix movie opening months in the streaming network’s history. The film was directed by Workaholics co-creator and star Kyle Newacheck.

It’s no surprise why Murder Mystery is so popular. Adam Sandler is the biggest Netflix movie star. I’m pretty sure more Netflix viewers watch his movies than any other actor’s collection. Netflix and Sandler’s Happy Madison Production have a deal in place that brings new movies to the streaming service every year. Also, Murder Mystery stars Jennifer Aniston, and everyone likes her movies, so it’s just the perfect match.

Murder Mystery is actually good, too! The action rom-com tells the story of Nick, played by Sandler, and Audrey, played by Aniston, who are a couple with some problems. They decide to take the honeymoon trip to Europe that they never took. There, they get swept up in a murder investigation where they are the main suspects. The couple does whatever it takes to clear their names and stay out of prison.

Murder Mystery 2 is also in the works at Netflix. We don’t know when to expect the film, but we are hoping Sandler and Aniston will be back for the sequel.
