The Half of It is one of the best Netflix movies of 2020 so far. It’s definitely the best romantic movie that Netflix has released this year.

Alice Wu wrote the screenplay for the movie and also directed the Netflix original film. It premiered at the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival and won the Founders Award for Best Narrative Feature.

The Half of It tells the story of Ellie Chu, played by Leah Lewis, a teenager who begins helping Paul, played by Daniel Diemer, try to win over a potential love interest, Aster, played by Alexxis Lemire. It’s revealed that Ellie also has feelings for Aster, and the pair strike up a relationship.

The Half of It never generated the buzz or racked up the fans and viewers like The Kissing Booth movies of the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before movies, but it’s really good. I’d argue that it’s even better than those teen Netflix movies.
