The Kissing Booth is one of Netflix’s first hit romantic comedies, especially of the teen genre. The movie premiered on the streaming service in May 2018, and it was a huge success almost immediately.

The movie is based on the book of the same name by Beth Reekles. It tells the story of Elle, a teenager who falls for the brother of her best friend, Lee. Unable to tell Lee about this new love, Elle and Noah, Lee’s brother, begin sneaking around. Obviously, things hit the fan shortly after it gets good for Elle and Noah.

The Netflix movie was so popular that Netflix made the second book of Reekles’ series into a movie, The Kissing Booth 2. Netflix also just confirmed that a third movie is in the works and it was filmed in secret following production on the second movie.

The Kissing Booth 2 premiered on Netflix in the summer of 2020, and it was one of the most popular movies of the summer. Without movies in theaters, there’s no doubt it was the most popular rom-com.
