Oscar “Spooky” Diaz – On My Block

In the first two seasons of On My Block, we meet Oscar “Spooky” Diaz, the brother of Cesar, and a member of a gang that runs the streets where our main group of friends live. He is a character on the outskirts of the group, even as the brother of one of our main characters. And even though he is given a boost to series regular in the third season, that doesn’t really appease our need to know more.

Although he is a gang leader, it is clear that at one point he is hoping to have a different future for himself. Plus, there are moments when it is clear that the gang life is not the one he wants, but rather the one he feels like he has to be a part of to survive and protect the people he cares about. And even though he and Cesar have their moments, they are still brothers and he will still watch out for him.

So why do I want more of Spooky? Because there is something about him that screams “I have a story to tell.”

While we get to see glimpses of the man he could have been, we don’t get the full picture. And considering Netflix has already determined that season 4 would be the last for On My Block, I highly doubt they are going to take the time to delve deep into who Oscar Diaz is and could be. So he deserves to have his story be told.
