5 must-watch shows and movies on Netflix: Aug. 9-15

The Kissing Booth 3

We start with the biggest release of the week. The Kissing Booth 3 is not to be missed.

This is the third and final movie in The Kissing Booth trilogy, and it’s time for Elle to have the summer of her life. It’s the summer before college, and she’s determined to make the most of it. However, during that time, she will also need to make a decision about college. Which of the two important guys in her life is she going to disappoint?

Beckett

John David Washington has a must-watch thriller coming to the streamer. It just has to be one of the must-watch shows and movies on Netflix for the week.

Beckett follows an American in Greece. It’s meant to be a vacation, but it soon turns into him landing in the middle of a conspiracy. Can he unravel it and keep himself out of trouble at the same time?

Shaman King

Love anime? You’ll be happy to hear there’s another one to watch on Netflix. Shaman King is based on the manga of the same name and is one of the first drops of the week.

It follows ancient shaman Hao Asakura, who learns how to reincarnate himself. It’s a chance to escape his family with the Spirit of Fire, but it does mean leaving his twin brother Yoh behind. That doesn’t mean they can’t come across each other again eventually.

Brand New Cherry Flavor

For those who need a horror series, there’s a limited series heading to Netflix. Brand New Cherry Flavor just has to make our list of shows and movies on Netflix to check out this week.

Rosa Salazar stars as Lisa Nova, a filmmaker in the early ’90s. With a dream of making it big, she heads to Hollywood to kick start her career. However, she ends up down the rabbit hole of sex, magic, revenge, and…kittens?

Gone for Good

Harlan Coben fans will definitely want to check out Gone for Good this week. If you loved The StrangerThe Woods, and other adaptations, this one simply has to be on the list. It’s an adaptation of Coben’s novel of the same name.

Like other stories, there is a present-day tale and a mystery from the past that comes up. This time, a man finds himself trying to figure out the disappearance of his girlfriend. It’s not the first time people have disappeared on him. Just 10 years earlier, he’d lost two loved ones.
