All 5 seasons of The Originals are leaving Netflix in September 2023

The Originals came just in time because the hype of the vampires vs. werewolves period was seemingly coming to an end, with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2  being the last Twilight film. Fans of the supernatural were slowly drifting towards something new, but The Originals was able to hold their attention for a while longer.

The fantasy supernatural drama is a spin-off of The Vampire Diaries. The Originals was created by Julie Plec and aired on The CW for its complete five seasons.

It follows the story of the Mikaelson siblings (Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah), who are also called “the Originals” because they’re the first vampires ever to exist. They head back to the city they helped build, New Orleans, to find out that the city is not what it used to be.

Marcel, Klaus’s former protégé, runs it, and trouble is looming between the vampires and other supernatural creatures. Klaus, believing it is his right to take over the French Quarter as leader, bumps heads with Marcel plenty of times. Also, to throw in some more drama, Klaus is expecting a child with a werewolf (Hayley).

Will Klaus be able to reclaim his land from Marcel while also protecting his unborn child from harm? You’ll have to watch the hit spin-off on Netflix to find out! But is it too late to watch the fantasy show? Did The Originals get the boot from Netflix?

Is The Originals leaving Netflix US?

I have good news and bad news. The good news is that The Originals is not leaving Netflix right away. So you have time to binge-watch the series before it departs. The bad news is that The Vampire Diaries spin-off will eventually be removed from the streamer in September 2023.

The fantasy series was previously removed from Netflix in July 2022 but was readded just a month later. There’s a chance that this can happen again, but for now, The Originals is confirmed to be leaving the streaming platform in September.

All five seasons of the fantasy series are currently streaming on Netflix, and sadly, all five of them will be departing the streamer in September. So you might want to start your binge session as soon as possible.

When is The Originals leaving Netflix?

The Originals seasons 1-5 are scheduled to leave Netflix on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023. This means the last day you can watch all five seasons on the streamer is Sept. 6. As we mentioned earlier, there’s a possibility that Netflix could relicense the show from Warner Bros. Television so that it can stay on the streamer longer, but that’s not the case at the moment. We’ll let you know if anything changes.

Where will The Originals stream next?

As of Aug. 23, it’s unknown where the fantasy series will stream next. However, it could be added to Max (formerly HBO Max) because that’s where most of Warner Bros content streams. But we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
