Whether you love horror or romantic movies, there is something for everyone on Netflix. Don’t forget there are still some of the great movies from earlier in the month, but this week it’s all about the more recent releases.

5 must-see movies on Netflix this weekend: July 17-18, 2021

Fear Street

We have to start with the trilogy of movies that dropped on Netflix throughout July. Fear Street is based on the R.L. Stine book series and mixes in a great romance at the same time. The third movie dropped on Netflix on Friday so now you can watch all three together.

Fear Street Part 3: 1666 takes the story back to the beginning. It’s time to find out how the Shadyside curse really started before getting to 1994 to see if it can ever come to an end.

Gunpowder Milkshake

Need more Karen Gillan in your life? Gunpowder Milkshake is the movie to check out this weekend. She plays Eva, a dangerous assassin who has to reunite with the mother who left her behind in an attempt to protect an eight-year-old girl.

The mother-daughter team will need to work together to take down a crime syndicate. It’s also time to find out the truth about the past.

My Amanda

Love a romantic movie or two? There are a few movies on Netflix to check out at the moment. This weekend, it’s all about the Filipino movie My Amanda.

This is one of those movies that looks like it’s like all the rest. We’ve seen movies of platonic friends becoming something more. But what if we could get something different? What if we could have a movie that just explores platonic friendships.

Private Network: Who Killed Manuel Buendia?

Those who are more into documentaries will be happy to hear there are a few options. Private Network: Who Killed Manuel Buendia? looks into the disappearance of the titular Mexican journalist.

We know the basic story. We know what was told to the press. But what really happened? Why was he killed, and were there links between politics and drug cartels?

Twilight

Finally, it’s all about the movie franchise that continues to get people talking. Whether you’re Team Edward or Team Jacob, it’s time to rewatch all five Twilight movies again. The full saga is back on Netflix.

This saga needs no introduction. It’s all about one teenage girl falling in love with a vampire but struggling to deal with feelings for her werewolf best friend.
