Fear Street Part 3: 1666 ending explained: Who was behind the curse on Shadyside?
Deena experienced the past, understanding the real history of the curse on Shadyside. Just how did Fear Street Part 3: 1666 end?
From the very first movie, Deena focused on bringing an end to the Shadyside curse. To be able to break it, she needed to figure out why the curse had started in the first place. That’s what the third movie told us.
We got a chance to experience the past. Fear Street Part 3: 1666 took us back to the time of Sarah Fier. Why was she hanged as a witch? How did her curse begin?
Meanwhile, we also experienced the rest of the story in 1994. Would the teens be able to bring the curse to an end?
Sarah Fier wasn’t behind the curse in Fear Street Part 3: 1666
It turned out that the curse wasn’t to do with Sarah Fier after all. At first, it looked like the settlement would turn against her. Someone spotted her and Hannah Miller together, and the rumor of them together quickly spread.
Sarah and Hannah were viewed as the people who had brought the devil to the settlement. They were viewed as the witches.
As Hannah was captured, Sarah rushed off to the house of the widow, where she’d originally found the book that would summon the devil to make a bargain. She wanted to use it to save herself and Hannah. However, the widow had been killed and the book taken. Sarah rushed to Solomon Goode’s house.
And that’s where we found out the full truth. Solomon was the one who had made the deal with the devil. He’d done it for power and status, and it all connected to the Shadyside/Sunnyvale divide over the course of the centuries. Just before being hanged as a witch (after making a false confession to save Hannah), Sarah told Solomon that she would follow him and his descendants.
Did the group stop the curse in 1994?
Back in 1994, Deena shared everything with the group. The Goode family had been responsible for the curse. Every generation, the next Goode male would pick a name for the devil to embody and go on a killing spree. The victims would be a sacrifice, ensuring the Goode family would always prosper in Sunnyvale.
The group put together a plan that would help to bring an end to the curse. They used Deena’s blood to lure the cursed spirits to Sheriff Nick Goode. While there was a fight, in the end, it worked.
Goode was stopped and the stone circle that had been created all those centuries ago disappeared. Sam was no longer possessed, and it looked like the curse is over.
However, the very end of Fear Street Part 3: 1666 made it clear there is a chance that more will happen. The book with all the spells was left behind in the cave where the stones originally sat. Two hands reached out to grab the book, but we don’t get to know who.
Fear Street Part 3: 1666 is now available to stream on Netflix.
