America: The Motion Picture was released on Netflix on June 30, 2021. If you’re curious about this insane animated Netflix movie, then here’s what America: The Motion Picture is totally about.

The story of the founding of America has been a topic of many movies, television series, and popular musicals over the years. It’s just something about that good ol’ American dream or something. Either way, around July 4th, there just seems to be a new piece of media popping up for the holiday.

This year, it looks like that honor goes to the recently released America: The Motion Picture, which is now available on Netflix. The animated movie from producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) tells the story of how America came to be in a totally bonkers way that is also 100% true. (Note: It’s not true. There were no mechs fighting each other during the Revolutionary War.)

America: The Motion Picture plot synopsis

If you’re thinking about checking out America: The Motion Picture, but aren’t sure if it’s for you.

Here’s the synopsis of the recently released movie, via Netflix:

"In this wildly tongue-in-cheek animated revisionist history, a chainsaw-wielding George Washington assembles a team of rabble rousers — including beer-loving bro Sam Adams, famed scientist Thomas Edison, acclaimed horseman Paul Revere, and a very pissed off Geronimo — to defeat Benedict Arnold and King James in the American Revolution. Who will win? No one knows, but you can be sure of one thing: these are not your father’s Founding… uh, Fathers."

America: The Motion Picture stars Channing Tatum as George Washington, Simon Pegg as King James, Judy Greer as Martha Dandridge, Bobby Moynihan as Paul Revere, and Raoul Trujillo as Geronimo. Other cast members are Jason Mantzoukas, Olivia Munn, Will Forte, Killer Mike, and Andy Samberg.
