Is 10 Things I Hate About You on Netflix?

When it comes to teen romantic comedies, you will be hard-pressed to find one as top-to-bottom iconic as 1999’s seminal classic 10 Things I Hate About You. The film easily left its mark on pop culture and leaves behind a legacy of coming-of-age excellence.

Based on the play The Taming of the Shrew by none other than William Shakespeare, the then-modern take on the play stars rom-com darling Julia Stiles as Kat Stratford, a no-nonsense high school student who finds herself entangled in a romance with bad boy heartthrob Patrick Verona, played by the late Heath Ledger.

10 Things I Hate About You tracked their rocky relationship, as well as that of new student Cameron James (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and Kat’s bubbly sister Bianca (Larisa Oleynik), in the face of their father’s strict rules on dating. It all culminates in the legendary poem tearfully read by Kat.

Is 10 Things I Hate About You on Netflix?

Unfortunately, 10 Things I Hate About You isn’t currently available to stream on Netflix. The movie has been available on the streaming service in the past, but we’re not sure as of right now if the teen rom-com will return at some point in the near future.

However, you can watch the 1999 hit on Disney+ right now, where it seemingly streamings due to being owned by Buena Vista Pictures, which is now Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Fans can also watch the short-lived 2009 ABC Family sitcom based on the movie on Hulu.

But if you’re looking to get your ’90s or ’00s romantic comedy fix on Netflix, there are plenty of similar options available to toss in your watch list, such as The Prince & Me, which also stars Julia Stiles. Legally Blonde, What a Girl Wants, The Sweetest Thing and The Girl Next Door are other worthy throwbacks for a rom-com binge-watch.
