Stranger Things season 4 is not coming to Netflix in July 2021

There are a lot of great shows and movies coming to Netflix in July 2021. Unfortunately, Stranger Things season 4 is not one of them.

With June nearing its conclusion, Netflix has unveiled the complete list of new shows and movies coming in July 2021. It’s a list filled with a lot of incredible series including fan favorites such as Virgin River, Sky Rojo, Never Have I Ever and Outer Banks but one fan favorite that’s once again missing from the list is Stranger Things. 

Unfortunately, the wait for the fourth season of arguably the biggest show on Netflix will continue for yet another month as we can officially rule out July 2021 as the release month for Stranger Things 4. While the news is definitely disappointing, it’s far from surprising as all signs seem to indicate production on season 4 is still underway.

Still, there had been hope among many fans that Netflix could surprise us as July has traditionally been the month in which new seasons have dropped with both season 1 and season 3 releasing in July.

Stranger Things season 4 release date

At this time, it remains uncertain when Netflix will release Stranger Things season 4 and it looks like fans will continue to have to wait for at least a few more months for the new season.

Although Netflix has not directly commented on the rumors circulating, several cast members have hinted that production on the show’s fourth season will continue through August. Should this indeed be the case, once filming concludes the series will need to undergo post-production which typically takes a few months to complete.

It’s possible post-production could be completed in time for Stranger Things to return sometime in 2021 and the show’s recent inclusion in Netflix’s Worth the Wait section could be hinting that a release date isn’t as far out as we’ve originally anticipated.

However, signs seem to be pointing towards season 4 being delayed until 2022.

Star Finn Wolfhard teased in a Fanmio that the show wouldn’t be coming in 2021. This tease seemed to be further supported when Stranger Things was noticeably missing from a list of high-profile releases teased to be coming in the second half of 2021 during an investor’s presentation.

While we’d love to see a new season of Stranger Things arrive sometime this year, it’s looking likely that we won’t catch up with Eleven and the gang until sometime in early 2022.
