Lucifer season 5 part 2 saw God retire and an opening for a new God happen. It was between Lucifer and Michael. Would Michael get the position?

Initially, Michael was sent back to the Silver City after the awkward family dinner. While out of sight, he wasn’t out of mind. He also didn’t stay out of trouble.

While there, he spent time gathering support from his siblings and got the pieces of the flaming sword together. His plan was to become the new God when God left. The question was whether it would work.

Lucifer, with Amenadiel and Chloe backing him, went to face against Michael. It was time to gain the support of his siblings to become the new God. However, the majority of their siblings chose Michael. Did that mean Michael was the new God?

Not quite. It needed to be unanimous and a couple of angels were on Lucifer’s side. That meant there needed to be a war. Only Michael or Lucifer could live, and so it was a fight between them.

Did Michael die on Lucifer season 5 part 2?

Lucifer had a feeling it would come to this. He did have a plan in place, but something went wrong. Michael stabbed Chloe in the stomach, killing her.

It looked like Lucifer chose to sacrifice himself for Chloe, leaving Michael to become the new God. However, Amenadiel and Maze weren’t willing to accept that, and so there was a fight between the angels.

Miraculously, Lucifer made it back to Earth. He should have been destroyed be heading to Heaven. After all, he was banished. Surviving that made it clear that he was worthy of becoming the new God.

Did he kill Michael, though? Certainly not. Yet again, Lucifer proved why he was worthy. Instead of killing Michael, he cut off Michael’s wings with the flaming sword.

Michael is now a fallen angel. Of course, this opens the door for more from him on Lucifer season 6.
