Lucifer season 5 part 2, episode 16 gives us so much to unpack! It’s a roller coast of emotions, especially the final act. Are you ready to break down the season 5 finale? Spoilers ahead!

Michael visits Lucifer, pretending to want to make peace, but we learned he couldn’t be trusted since he first appeared in the series. Michael shameless admits that he ordered Dan’s murder so that Chloe would feel guilty and go to Hell with Lucifer.

Wow, how kind of him now, isn’t it? This only makes Lucifer angrier and determined to become the new God.

If you thought you were done crying over Dan’s death, you were wrong. The tears continue in this episode when Maze, Amenadiel, and Linda remember their friend. A sweet reunion (we’ve long been waiting for) finally happens, though, which does cheer us up. That is, until the roller coaster of emotions kicks in during the final act.

Buckle up as we recap the episode by highlighting the top three moments.

What happens in Lucifer season 5 part 2 finale?

The price of joy

The tears continue throughout most of this episode. Maze, Amenadiel, and Linda are cleaning up Dan’s home. Maze breaks down in tears when she picks up a shirt that brings back memories.

Linda and Amenadiel comfort Maze with some very kind and true words, the price of joy is pain and loss. Amenadiel points out that, in order for them to not be sad at that moment, they would have had to never meet Dan. And who would want that?

This scene was brilliantly written. This is a lesson we can all walk away with that helps us appreciate what we have.

Maze and Eve

Dan’s death has made Maze realize that she would rather have Eve at her side and love her, than not being with her at all.

Eve goes to LUX on a blind date, not knowing that she’s there to meet Maze. The two chat and Maze tells Eve that she doesn’t care if Eve dies. Out of context, that sounds cruel, but we know that this is actually pretty sweet of Maze. We’re so glad they’re finally together. We’ve long been wanting Maze to be happy.

Lucifer vs. Michael

It’s war! But it’s also Michael and all the angels vs Lucifer and Amenadiel. Chloe, Maze, Eve, and a handful of demons join, but they are still outnumbered.

To spare everyone else and avoid bloodshed, Lucifer proposes he and Michael fight one-on-one. But leave it to Michael to cheat and kill Chloe. Even though Lucifer knows that going to Heaven to get Chloe back will kill him, he does it anyway, because it’s not Chloe’s time to go and he loves her.

In Heaven, Lucifer finally tells Chloe he loves her. And these three words never sounded so good!

Chloe is back, and just as she is about to kill Michael, Lucifer stops her. Everyone is shocked to see Lucifer back. He’s supposed to be dead! How is this possible?

Everyone bows down to Lucifer, realizing this means he truly is God. Lucifer ends the season with the perfect line, “Oh, my me.”

What a finale! I’m so excited to see what happens next! What are you the most excited to see when the series returns?
