Happy May Day! This weekend somehow finds us at the beginning of May. You will hear no complaints from me as I am ready for warmer weather. This weekend you may be spending some time outside, but there is always time for some relaxing with great shows on Netflix to binge.

Shadow and Bone, The Baker and the Beauty and Ginny and Georgia are still going strong on the Netflix Top 10 TV show list. Be sure to check them out if you haven’t.

Another great one to watch is Life in Color with David Attenborough. This docuseries is an amazing look at animals and how they view the world.

5 must-watch shows on Netflix for the weekend

Selena: The Series

Part two of Selena: The Series will be available on Netflix on May 4 so, this weekend is a great time to watch or re-watch the first part of this series.

Latin music sensation Selena Quintanilla, played by Christian Serratos, was a rag to riches type of story that ended in her tragic death. Her father groomed her and her siblings to become musicians. They worked hard, and that eventually paid off. As Selena was at the height of her career, she was killed by her fan club president at the young age of 24.

The series focuses on the life of Selena and the whole Quintanilla family and how they juggled family life and career by sticking together.

The Irregulars

The Irregulars was released in March 2021 and has already reportedly been renewed for a second season. This series is an alternate story in the world of Sherlock Holmes.

As always, there are mysteries to be solved, but this series takes a supernatural twist. Dr. Watson chooses a group of teens to assist him in solving crimes happening in London. The Baker Street Irregulars also help Watson as he searches for Sherlock Holmes.

Critics gave mixed reviews, but according to viewership numbers, the fans have really enjoyed this one of the shows on Netflix.

Ozark

Ozark, this Netflix original crime drama, is filming its fourth and final season that will be released in two parts. There is no confirmation that we will see any of season 4 in 2021.

The series follows the Byrd family, who moves to the Lake of the Ozarks to set up a money-laundering operation. Thinking this would be an easy place to blend in and run the operation, the Byrds then find themselves entangled in even worse criminal activity when they run into the Langmore and  Snell families and the Kansas City Mafia.

The series has received many award nominations, and Julie Garner has one twice for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama series. Jason Bateman has won Outstanding Director in a Drama series and has been nominated for Best Actor.

Now is a good time to watch this series ahead of the release of the fourth and final season.

Hangar 1: The UFO Files

Season 2 of Hangar 1: The UFO Files docuseries will release on May 2. The first season consists of eight episodes, and the second has 12.

This docuseries takes a look into UFO sightings and the files archive that is located at Hangar 1. There are over 70,000 files that are maintained by an independent organization MUFON (The Mutual UFO Network). This series takes a deep dive looking for any evidence of the assistance of UFOs.

If UFOs are of interest to you, this is a series you should take a look at.

Hoarders

Hoarders is kind of like a train wreck; you can’t look away. That is probably why there are so many seasons of this series. Season 11 will release on Sunday, May 2, on Netflix.

The 11th season consists of eight episodes, and like always, each hour-long episode takes a deep look into the lives of people who suffer from being a hoarder. Each episode will feature an intervention for two people who can’t part with their accumulated items. Many people joke about being a hoarder, but the reality of this disease is heartbreaking.

Have a great weekend!! Enjoy some great shows on Netflix.
