Best Netflix show of 2015: Grace and Frankie

2015 was another one of those massive years for Netflix. The humpyear of the decade produced some of the streaming platform’s most beloved hits like Bloodline, Sense8, Jessica Jones, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

But it was one unsuspecting comedy that really took the world by storm – Grace and Frankie. Netflix had originally created the series hoping to attract an older audience to the streaming service. The show followed two women, Grace (Jane Fonda) and Frankie (Lily Tomlin), as they discover their husbands are secretly gay and in love with each other.

The show tackles tons of issues like ageism, bigotry against the LGBTQ community, and the struggles of women in the workplace. It turned out that the show resonated with audiences of all ages, and thanks to the powerhouse performances of Fonda and Tomlin, the series was hailed by critics and became a perennial favorite at award shows.

To date, the series has aired 78 episodes and is currently filming the final season, which was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s likely that the farewell season won’t premiere until 2022.
