Is Godzilla vs. Kong on Netflix?

Godzilla vs. Kong burst onto the scene to quickly become one of the biggest global cinematic releases since the COVID-19 pandemic first began back in 2020.

During its first weekend at the international box office, Godzilla vs. Kong brought in an impressive $122 million at the global box office with $70 million coming from China alone. While these numbers might sound standard for a blockbuster feature such as the Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures release, the film has become the biggest box office hit since theaters across the globe have begun reopening.

Even more impressive, that total did not even account for the film’s US opening release totals due to the film’s delayed US release — while the film opened internationally on March 25, it did not release stateside until March 31.

Between the film’s A-list cast which includes Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown and its epic collision of two massively popular mythic adversaries in Gozilla and Kong, it’s not hard to see why fan interest in the film has been so high!

With theaters across the US still closed or operating at limited capacity, many are wondering whether the film will be following the footsteps of features such as Wonder Woman 1984, Soul, Mulan, and The Lovebirds in skipping the traditional release plan by debuting on a streaming platform in lieu of a theatrical run or coinciding with a film’s theatrical release.

Is Godzilla vs. Kong streaming on Netflix?

Unfortunately, Godzilla vs. Kong is not currently available to stream on Netflix and it doesn’t look like the film will be coming to Netflix anytime soon. While Netflix has become a home to many blockbusters, the film’s status as a Warner Bros. release indicates Godzilla vs. Kong will instead be going to another streaming provider and is unlikely to become available on Netflix anytime in 2021.

So just where can you stream Godzilla vs. Kong if not on Netflix? While the film won’t be arriving on Netflix, it is set to release on HBO Max on Wednesday, March 31. Like previously released Warner Bros. films, Godzilla vs. Kong will stream on HBO Max for 31 days as part of your standard subscription before leaving the service to finish its theatrical run before eventually arriving via video-on-demand platforms.
