If you’ve binge-watched Outlander seasons 1 through 4 on Netflix, couldn’t help yourself and headed over to Starz to zip through season 5 and are now impatiently waiting for the sixth season – you might already be wondering if Outlander season 7 is going to happen.
The Outlander Twitter account announced the exciting news by posting a video of the cast “answering” one particular question all us fans are wondering – has Outlander been renewed for another season?
They finally took pity on those of us who’ve been waiting on bated breath for the new season of the TV series.
Is there going to be a season 7 of Outlander?
Yes! Outerlander season 7 is happening!
Check out the video announcement below:
I love the way they shared the long-awaited news! At first glance you’re really only expecting to get some fan questions answered, but not the one we’ve been asking for so many months now. Starz is usually good about announcing Outlander renewals, but the network may have waited so long because of the pandemic. They probably wanted to see how they could get filming done, especially because Outlander season 6 just started filming a couple of months ago in January after production was delayed for months. It might be released later this year.
According to TVLine, the time-travel drama’s seventh season will be 12 episodes and based on Outlander book author Diana Gabaldon’s seventh book, An Echo in the Bone. Our favorite main stars of the show Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin will be back for the new season. I’m most looking forward to getting more of Jamie and Claire, I just love their love.
It’s hard to say what we can exactly expect even though season 7 is based on the seventh book. The show writers have usually stuck to one book per season, but are also known to switch some storylines and events around to keep even the book readers on their toes.
I actually haven’t read the books (yet!) and prefer not knowing what could possibly be coming. The writers have smartly surprised even the book-first audience throughout the last five seasons, but I do prefer watching how things play out on screen for the first time. That’s what’s so great about this show. Both book-first and show-first fans can enjoy it!
