Shows and movies on Netflix: Bombay Rose

There are a lot of shows and movies on Netflix that cover topics from cultures outside the traditional Hollywood ones. Bombay Rose is the latest, and this one is an animated movie. This isn’t just your typical Hollywood story, though. It’s an Indian original in Hindi, offering a chance to break away from so many of the stereotypes.

The basis of the movie is about a young woman who is set to marry a man of her parents’ choosing. It’s an arranged marriage, but things start to change when she falls in love with another man.

It’s a stunning movie visually, bringing in so many excellent elements of Indian folklore. There’s no doubt that this is a movie you want to check out this week.

Watch Bombay Rose on Monday, March 8 on Netflix.

Shows and movies on Netflix: Coven of Sisters

There are many types of shows and movies on Netflix that cover witchcraft. Most of the time, you’ll find they have some sort of connection the 1692 Salem witch trials. If not, they cover the Lancaster witch trials in England or James VI of Scotland’s obsession with witches.

We’re heading over to Europe for Coven of Sisters. Set in Basque Country, 1609, a group of witches are arrested and convicted of their crimes. They work to prevent their execution by luring their Inquisitor to witness the witches’ Sabbath.

There is a darkness to the movie, but it promises to show a different side to various witch trials around Europe. There’s also a song that you’re sure to get stuck in your head.

Watch Coven of Sisters on Netflix on Thursday, March 11.
