Netflix shows and movies: Pelé

Even if you’re not the biggest fan of soccer (or football as the majority of the world calls it), you’ll have likely heard of the name Pelé. The Brazilian player is considered one of the best, working with his team to secure not just one but three World Cup victories.

Now it’s time to learn more about him. The movie will follow Pelé’s career in the sport. It’s not really about his life, but about the player that he was for the team. It’s about his rise to stardom in a sport he loved so much.

There’s also focus on that third World Cup victory. At the time, Brazil was under a harsh military regime, and yet the team still brought home the cup. The documentary spends time looking at how sport and politics didn’t mix but how they had to work together.

Netflix shows and movies: The Girl on the Train

Finally, it’s time for a Hindi-language movie on Netflix. The Girl on the Train was supposed to be released back in 2020, but the pandemic affected things. Viewers finally get the chance to see it later this week.

The movie is based on Paula Hawkins’s 2015 novel of the same name. Parineeti Chopra stars as an alcoholic widow who ends up in the middle of a murder investigation.

She’s accused of murder, but Mina can’t remember the night in question. If she wants to prove her innocence, she needs to figure it all out. But what if she did do it? What if she killed someone while she was in a drunken stupor? Does she really want to remember that?
