4. Remember Me

If you’re looking for something a bit sadder to cry over with your significant other on Valentine’s Day, Remember Me is definitely the movie to watch. It stars Robert Pattinson, Emilie de Ravin, Chris Cooper, Lena Olin, Tate Ellington, and Pierce Brosnan.

The film follows Ally, a student at NYU who tries to live every day to the fullest after watching her mother be murdered right in front of her, and Tyler, a guy struggling with his parents’ split, his workaholic father, and the fact that his brother died by suicide. He is also protective of his younger sister, Caroline.

Ally and Tyler meet and go on a date and end up going to a party where Ally gets very drunk. Tyler takes her back to his apartment to sleep it off. But what seems like a happy event that could elad to a serious relationship causes quite a bit of trouble.

After the drunken night, Ally goes back to her house where she lives with her father and they argue which leads to him slapping her. From there, the movie goes more into Tyler’s family and Ally’s father who finds out that Tyler happens to be the guy he arrested a couple of nights before. He even goes so far as to break into his apartment and confronts Tyler.

Of course, Ally hears this fight and thinks Tyler went out with her just to get back at her dad. She runs but Tyler’s friend, Aiden, talks to her about how much Tyler loves her.

Things start to look up from there. Yes, Tyler gets arrested again but it’s for defending his sister and it leads to him and his father actually connecting.

What happens next will completely tear your heart out. Make sure you pay attention to dates in this movie because they’re possibly more important than anything else if you want to be tuned into how this is going to end. Let’s just say, if you know what happened in 2001, you can probably figure out how this ends. This is not a happy ending but it is still quite romantic.
