Malcolm and Marie is coming to Netflix tonight

“It’s not until you’re about to lose someone, that you finally pay attention.” Netflix’s new hotly anticipated movie Malcolm and Marie is dropping tonight! The film, directed and written by Sam Levinson (Euphoria, Assassination Nation), is a two-hander starring Zendaya (Spider-Man series, Euphoria) and John David Washington (BlacKkKlansman, Tenet).

Malcolm and Marie is also notable for being one of – if not the – first film production created during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The producers and creatives successfully worked with the Writers Guild, Directors Guild, and SAG to ensure the right protocols would be set in place and diligently followed.

Netflix also reportedly paid upwards of $30 million to acquire the film’s distribution rights, and Malcolm and Marie had a very limited theatrical release last month.

What time is Malcolm and Marie on Netflix?

According to Netflix, the synopsis of Malcolm and Marie is as follows:

"As a filmmaker and his girlfriend return home from his movie premiere, smoldering tensions and painful revelations push them toward a romantic reckoning."

The film was shot in swoony black and white by Marcell Rév and features music by British singer and songwriter Labrinth. You can watch the movie’s trailer below!

This movie looks incredibly sensual, raw, and unvarnished, its release keying into an American environment of immense emotional vulnerability and romantic repression. Malcolm and Marie is also positioned to be a prime awards contender, with FYC hype already way up for its two lead performers.

Honestly, I was instantly hooked from the first 10 seconds of the trailer, complete with its shot-reverse framing of Marie and Malcolm and use of one of the best Alabama Shakes songs. In an otherwise fairly dry February, this looks to definitively be this month’s must-watch content.
