One of the biggest Netflix shows of the year is coming to the streaming service this spring.

Netflix just announced the release date for Shadow and Bone, an upcoming fantasy series based on the book series of the same name and the Grishaverse books by Leigh Bardugo.

We were expecting Netflix to release Shadow and Bone in time for the 2020 holiday season, but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed things and made that release date impossible. Earlier this year, Netflix teased Shadow and Bone was coming in April. Now, we know exactly when we get to watch the series!

Netflix also released a few images from the upcoming series, and we shared those below.

When is Shadow and Bone on Netflix?

Shadow and Bone premiere on Netflix on Friday, April 23, 2021, and it’s going to be fantastic!

If you’re not excited about this show, I don’t know what to tell you. Bardugo’s books are so good. There’s so much world to be explored; it’s big and expansive. I can’t wait to see how it all comes together on screen. And, most importantly, the story has a little bit of everything.

Shadow and Bone follows Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li), a Ravkan soldier who discovers that she has an incredible power that could turn the fortune of her long-divided country and region. But, there’s so much more at stake!

It’s going to be very interesting to see how the whole show comes together.

Ben Barnes stars in the series, along with Freddy Carter, Amita Suman, Kit Young, Archie Renaux, Jessie Mei Li, Danielle Galligan, Daisy Head, Sujaya Dasgupta, Zoë Wanamaker, and Gabrielle Brooks.

Eric Heisserer, best known for writing the script for Bird Box, developed the series, which is produced by 21 Laps Entertainment, the production company that makes Stranger Things.
