Netflix movies like Jurassic World: We Can Be Heroes

The highly-anticipated sequel to The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl comes We Can Be Heroes. While this show is less fantasy than Jurassic World and more superhero, it still fits seamlessly in the science-fiction genre. It follows a group of superpowered children racing to rescue their parents who were captured by a group of evil aliens.

We Can Be Heroes invokes the same nostalgic fun as Jurassic World. It provides new entertainment for young viewers and sentimental feelings for those older viewers who grew up with Sharkboy and Lavagirl or Sky High.

Netflix shows like Jurassic World: Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts

Last but definitely not least is Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts. While this show doesn’t have big dinosaur attacks — I think Jurassic World stole that genre — it does feature some cool monster action. This series is completely animated and is set in a post-apocalyptic world. It is part of Netflix’s “Representation Matters” collection and has been praised for having an openly gay character and a predominately-POC cast.

Much like in Jurassic World, much of the beauty and character development in Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts arises from friendship-building and trust.
