Riverdale season 5 episode 3 synopsis teases graduation drama

Riverdale season 5 kicked off with one major senior milestone and it seems yet another is just around the corner!

After kicking off its new season with an episode that found Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, and the rest of our favorite Riverdale seniors enjoying their Senior Prom, we’re now only one episode away from watching the gang walk down the aisle on Graduation Day.

Appropriately titled, “Chapter Seventy-Nine: Graduation,” the third episode of the season will find Gradutation Day finally arriving with what will serve as the final episode focusing on the gang’s high school years before the looming time jump. With graduation looming, expect to see the gang all mulling over what the future will hold after high school and for a few goodbyes as well.

As the official episode synopsis teases:

"“With Graduation Day around the corner, the gang consider their next steps beyond Riverdale High. Archie learns whether he will be able to graduate with his classmates. FP makes a difficult decision about his and Jellybean’s future."

Unlike other teen dramas that hype up major events only to pass them over in the blink of an eye, Riverdale is going to give us exactly what we want in offering up a full-on graduation event!

Before graduation, it looks like the gang will be commemorating their time at Riverdale High with a time capsule of some sorts as evident in a pair of photos in which Betty, Veronica, Kevin, and Reggie take to the football field with some personal items in hand including what appears to be a menu or flyer for Pop’s, some school programs and a signed football.

Elsewhere, we get our first glimpse at several members of the gang in full cap and gown including Betty, Jughead, Veronica, Toni, and Cheryl, who steals the show in a vibrant red cap and gown which makes her stand out against the sea of blue caps and gowns adorned by her classmates. We also seem to get a few peeks at Archie which have us concerned over whether he might get to walk on Graduation Day alongside his friend.

In attendance for the gang’s special day are several of the gang’s parents including Mary, Hermione, and Hiram who are absolutely beaming! Meanwhile, the shots of Alice and FP are a bit more emotionally charged in what we believe to be our first glimpse at what could be FP’s farewell.

It’s sure to be an incredible hour of the show and a perfect sendoff to the gang’s teen years before we jump ahead to the future in episode 4!
