Netflix shows like Formula 1: Drive to Survive

Racing fans absolutely love the unprecedented access and eye-opening revelations that come with an enthralling sports docuseries. It’s hard to argue that one incredibly impressive example of this is Netflix’s Formula 1: Drive to Survive.

The streaming service has a lot of options for subscribers to choose from when looking for something to watch after they have binged both seasons of Formula 1: Drive to Survive. Watching the exhilarating world of the Formula One World Championship is unlike anything else, and the tremendous insight gained on all the big names like Daniel Ricciardo, Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes, Ferrari, and many more is an outstanding experience that deserves a worthwhile ordeal to serve as its followup.

While there most certainly is nothing that will fill the void left after watching Formula 1: Drive to Survive, there are some shows that come very close. Out of all the options available on Netflix, here are the ones worth mentioning.

1. The Last Dance

Formula 1: Drive to Survive is so appealing among fans because of the unprecedented access it offers to the ever-popular world of Formula One racing. So it would seem likely that another docuseries offering up similar insight would also be revered as a hit worth watching over and over again. The Last Dance is another great sports documentary miniseries that gives an excellent account of his Airness, Michael Jordan, and his illustrious career with the Chicago Bulls. The engrossing affair thoroughly covers his final season with the team with never-before-seen footage making the entire ordeal something that would be a suitable program to watch after enjoying the glimpse into the Formula One World Championship.

2. Home Game

Narrated by Mark Strong, Home Game is another documentary series, which brilliantly showcases dangerous and unique sports from around the world and the communities and cultures where they are practiced. For those looking for something to get excited about other than football or the UFC would probably be eager to learn more about the brutally violent Calcio Storico, which is basically Mixed Martial Arts meets Rugby. If that isn’t wild enough, some of these other exciting endeavors featured on the well-crafted Netflix docuseries like Scotland’s caber toss, freediving in The Philipines, the Kyrgyzstan national sport of Kok Boru, and Bali’s drag racing, just to name a few.

3. Sunderland Til I Die

It’s no secret that Formula One racing is a big deal for fans all over the globe, and if Formula 1: Drive to Survive gives those who follow the game an unprecedented glimpse and the inner workings of some of their favorite race teams, then any docuseries that does the same with an iconic soccer team would also be something not to miss. Sunderland Til’ I Die takes viewers on a wild ride through the highs and lows of SAFC’s 2017-2018 season in the Championship after its relegation the prior year and superbly highlights the passion the residents of Sunderland gave for their beloved football club.

4. First Team: Juventus

The Netflix docuseries Formula 1: Drive to Survive is one of the first programs focusing on Formula One Racing, which has resonated very well with fans all over the globe. It’s safe to assume that the streaming service’s first series about an association football club would also have the same successful results. First Team: Juventus is a compelling six-part sports documentary series that follows the renowned soccer club Juventus both on and off of the field as they attempt to defy the odds by achieving Champions League glory and take home a seventh straight Italian title. There really is no shortage of reasons to check this stupendous soccer series out after a deep dive into the world of Formula One Racing.

5. Fearless

Netflix has an ample amount of insightful, entertaining, and informative sports documentary series that does a magnificent job of introducing subscribers to all sorts of different athletic endeavors. Formula 1: Drive to Survive is a perfect example of an enthralling entry hooking viewers up with next-level access, and the perfect program to watch afterward would be the 2016 series Fearless. The Portuguese language Netflix original series centers on a group of American and Brazilian professional Bull Riders on their arduous journey from South America to the Las Vegas Championships. This exemplary piece of nonfiction sports content also features former bull-riding champion Adriano Moraes making all six episodes worth watching over and over again.
