Why won’t Chilling Adventures of Sabrina part 5 happen?

By now, you’ll have heard that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina part 5 isn’t happen. The series has been canceled by Netflix.

Of course, after watching just how awesome the fourth part of the season is, you’ll have one big question.

WHY?

Why did Netflix canceled one of its strongest supernatural series?

It’s no secret that Netflix has a habit of canceling shows prematurely. We seen a lot of excellent shows canceled after one to three seasons. It’s rare that a show gets a fourth season. But this likely doesn’t have much to do with the usual problems.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina cancellation came mid-pandemic

Netflix was upfront about bringing the show to an end. It happened mid-pandemic when it was “unrenewing” a lot of TV shows.

The show had a lot of plans for a fifth part, including the Riverdale crossover so many fans had looked forward to eventually season. Ross Lynch, who plays Harvey Kinkle on the show, shared that there were 10 more episodes at least.

The show was canceled due to the pandemic.

And the pandemic has certainly caused problems for many TV shows. Netflix wasn’t the only network to “unrenew” shows, with Stumptown being “unrenewed” by ABC. Pilots on broadcast networks were canned because of the pandemic.

There are simply so many protocols that some shows are struggling to film. Outlander season 6 hasn’t started filming yet because it is one of the least COVID-19-friendly shows going. It would have made Chilling Adventures of Sabrina far more expensive than it already is, and Netflix decided not to spend the money despite a cry-out from fans.

In the end, it does come down to money for a business. It has to.

It’s certainly sad. There were so many great ways this story could have gone. It’s an excellent show on the streaming network. At least we have 36 episodes of great entertainment always on Netflix.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is now available to stream in full on Netflix.
