Creed Bratton is the best character on The Office

The Office character Creed Bratton was played by a comedian/musician of the same name. He played a fictionalized version of himself, an older gentleman who had unexpected outbursts and an “I don’t care” attitude we should all possess.

This week we are saying goodbye to The Office as it leaves Netflix on Dec. 31.

As with quite a few of the characters, Creed was often in the background and didn’t have a major storyline. But, when the cameras did turn on him, fans were never disappointed.

B.J. Novak, who played Ryan Howard and was also a writer and producer of the show, has stated that Creed, the man, is a good-hearted and likable guy, and Creed, the character, has a much darker side to him.

We shared five reasons that prove Creed Bratton is the best character on The Office.

1. He has a dark past 

We learn many crazy things about Creed throughout the series. He has been in numerous cults as a leader and a follower. He has spent time being homeless, he spent time in an iron lung as a child, and somehow he knows that the Taliban has great heroin. The dark past makes him great because people with a mysterious past are always interesting.

2. He is a loose cannon

This man literally doesn’t give a crap! He barely did his job, which we do find out is a quality assurance director. If he didn’t want to participate in the office meetings, he would leave and go back to his desk. At one or more times, he probably murdered someone. You never knew what would be coming out of his mouth to the cameras or in a random outburst.

3. He is a kleptomaniac

He shares that stealing is just something he does. We saw him steal poker chips at Casino Night, and he brushed it off as no big deal. When the office decided to do a toy drive for Christmas, Creed steals one of the toys from the box. He returned $40 to Michael, who says he never gave the money to Creed. He replied, in a way you did, probably implying he stole the money. He even stole blood and equipment during the blood drive. This goes back to the fact he is a loose cannon.

4. He is a patriot

He told the camera on one occasion that he already won the lottery when he was born in the U.S of A, baby.

5. He is creepy cool

Overall, Creed is a mystery though many of his life events slipped out in various conversations with no real explanations. His lack of morals has made him a funny character, one who you really never know would take a conversation or a situation. He is a musician, being part of The Grass Roots band, and musicians are always cool, right?
