Netflix adding 36 new movies and shows this week

A new week is here which means we are that much closer to 2021… and a ton of new movies and shows are being added to Netflix. Whether you’re in the mood for a new teen drama based on a popular book series, a film featuring Chadwich Boseman’s final performance, or a new season of a Netflix Original kid’s show, Netflix has something for everyone this week.

Netflix is back with another adaptation of a popular book series. Tiny Pretty Things, based on the book of the same name by Sona Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton, hits Netflix on Monday, Dec. 14.

The series follows three dancers at a prestigious Manhatten ballet school, Neveah, Bette, and June, as they navigate their way through the drama in school, the fight to become the top dancer, and the danger they might be in. One of the top students was attacked, will one of them be next? I cannot wait to watch this!

Take a look at the trailer here:

If you’ve been looking to watch Chadwich Boseman’s final performance, it’s finally here. Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom comes to Netflix on Friday, Dec. 18. Besides Boseman, the film also stars  Viola Davis, Colman Domingo, Glynn Turman, Jeremy Shamos, and Taylour Paige. It takes place in 1927 Chicago and follows Ma Rainey, her horn player, Levee, and the white managers who want to take control of their music and performance. This is definitely a film you don’t want to miss.

Looking for a show to entertain your kids? Season 2 of Hilda comes to Netflix on Monday, Dec. 14. The animated show follows Hilda, a blue-haired girl who moved from the forest to a new town where she finds all kinds of adventures she never expected. Based on the trailer, it looks like her mom is going to be along for the ride in season 2.

This season will also feature a song that was written by the voice of Hilda, Bella Ramsey. The song is called “The Life of Hilda” and is about Hilda learning from her mistakes.
