In case you haven’t already heard the good news, Selena: The Series is now on Netflix. For those of you who don’t know, Selena was one of the most influential Latin artists of all time and she is remembered for her contributions to music and fashion.

Starring Christian Serratos as Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla, Selena: The Series focuses on the performer’s rise to stardom and the sacrifices made by her family along the way.

The show also features the talents of Gabriel Chavarria, Ricardo Chavira, Noemi Gonzalez, and Seidy Lopez.

Selena’s style was so popular and still resonates today, which is why MAC Cosmetics has created several makeup collections inspired by the singer. As reported by Refinery29, the first collaboration was a bestseller, and the second collection was released to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the singer’s tragic death. The collection has been dubbed La Reina, which means The Queen in Spanish. How fitting!

Suzette Quintanilla Arriaga, Selena’s sister, worked closely with MAC in order to create a collection that would emulate her late sister’s legacy. Here is what Quintanilla Arriaga had to say about Selena’s impact:

"Selena’s legacy has actually been growing, and now with a whole new generation, everybody has their reasons for loving [her]."

However, the La Reina collection was so popular that the only item left available is a tube of lipstick. The collaboration was initially released in April 2020, so it’s been a while since it was first stocked.

You can check out the Queen of Cumbia lipstick, which is described as a metallic red shade that retails for $20.00, here.
