Ava is an exceptional action-thriller starring academy-award nominee Jessica Chastain as a skilled mercenary doing off the book hits who gets set up and must take down her enemies before they kill the ones she loves.

Fans of films like Peppermint, Columbiana, and Haywire are missing out if they haven’t seen the exhilarating endeavor that is currently available on Netflix. For those that have witnessed the suspenseful spy flick are understandably wondering if they will make Ava 2 or if this exciting affair was a one and done ordeal.

Ava has all the makings of an intriguing franchise of the genre, and fans of the original would not be disappointed to learn there was another installment coming. Whether or not Chastain will remain in the role if there are more iterations to come is also not known, but if she would, it is safe to presume that another run would be a must-see affair, especially if it makes its way to Netflix.

Is Ava 2 happening?

As of right now, there is no official word on whether or not Ava 2 is in the works, and it may be sometime before we get any updates regarding the potential follow-up. It’s not uncommon for a gap of about a year or more to take place between a film and its sequel, and that would most likely be the case when determining if there is sufficient demand for a second film.

The end of the film saw Ava attempt to walk away, but following her was some unfinished business in the form of the man’s vengeful daughter that betrayed her. There is obviously more story to tell and given Chatsain’s knack for action; there aren’t many reasons not greenlight a sequel.

The film received praise from IndieWire for being a top-notch VOD choice before it arrived at Netflix. It is also the most rented film on Google Play and Apple TV while being a significant heavy hitter on FandangoNow and Spectrum, leading one to assume it has resonated somewhat well with audiences and may have enough traction for Ava 2 to be a real possibility.

When will Ava 2 be released?

Assuming that Ava 2 would happen, it would probably be a good idea for fans not to expect a release date to arrive anytime soon. It would seem there are no immediate plans for any type of continuation of the property, and until any news on that front arises, it’s going to be some time before any timetable for the release can be properly determined.

Will Jessica Chastain return for Ava 2?

As far as Ava 2 is concerned, Jessica Chastain hasn’t been known for working with franchises or doing sequels. She did star in X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which didn’t work out well for anyone involved. There has also been talk of her reprising her career-defining role in A Most Violent Year, so it would seem she is open to the idea of those things.

Chastain may be starting another action franchise as the pulse-pounding team-up motion picture The 355, which has her leading an all-star team of Femme Fatales, which will only strengthen her credibility in the genre. If that goes well and there is enough of a response from its time on Netflix, there is a chance that could be enough to bring in the talent and resources to secure the actress for Ava 2.
